I have been doing research on different juice cleanses for several months, and while I have really wanted to do one, I just can’t afford $200+ for a few days worth of juices. I have also thought about juicing my own, but the price of produce is insane, so that went out the door as well. I have noticed several deals on Groupon though, which I planned on purchasing after my birthday feast was over. But it still hurt my wallet having to spend $100 on a 3-day cleanse.
But then Target did it again, doesn’t every great story begin with Target? I always check out the juice selection in Target, but I always find options that are $7-12 each, that is way too much for me to handle, and what is the point of having one juice during a day, but carbing it up for the other two meals? This specific Target trip was different though, and I am SO excited about it. I see a lot of juices in my future. As I was scanning the shelves, a $3.99 price tag caught my eye…what?! Could this be real? It has to be marked wrong…actually, wait…the names match up…oh my gosh!!!
Suja has introduced a new line of Suja Essential Juices and they are only available in Target (no this is not a sponsored post in anyway). I bought steps 1, 2, and 3 and headed back to my desk to figure out what this craziness was. It took me a bit to find out what exactly I had purchased, and then I found the page on the Suja Essentials 1-Day Renewal page. It lays out that during this cleanse you will drink 3 juices, and have 3 balanced meals to supplement the juices. There is a meal plan on the website, and the meals were actually pretty delicious.
Renewal Step 1
Sunrise Probiotic- This is a very fruity drink, perfect for breakfast. I wish there would have been more because it just tasted like a fruit and vanilla smoothie. It is recommended to drink your juice for breakfast, and then have meal 1st 30 minutes later, or when you feel hungry. I honestly did not feel very hungry, so I waited about 45 minutes and then made my meal, my meal descriptions are below.
Renewal Step 2
Midday Thrive- This is the typical green juice that any juice cleanse will have. I expected it to taste a little better, but it wasn’t terrible, and I didn’t have a problem drinking it. I wish it had a little more of an apple taste instead of cucumber though. The 2nd meal is again recommended for 30 minutes later, but I had it about 15 minutes later because of time. I started making the meal as I was drinking the juice, so that is just how it worked out.
Renewal Step 3
Sunset Protein- At first, I hated this one. It’s very thick and has a weir texture, but once I got passed that I started to actually like it. It’s sweeter than the others, so it would actually taste better after eating the 3rd meal, but I still enjoyed it before. I did drink this one the fastest though.
All of these drinks are certified organic, gluten-free, soy-free, vegan, dairy-free and kosher. I really enjoyed this cleanse, and can’t wait to continue “renewing” every few weeks. At such an awesome price point, I highly recommend it!
Now to how I felt during and after the cleanse. I did have cravings, but that’s expected. It was for things like pizza though, I didn’t really crave anything sweet. My sleep schedule was pretty off, so I felt exhausted quickly prior to the cleanse, but during the day of the cleanse I felt pretty good. I wasn’t a ball of fire, but I did get a lot done. I have heard you shouldn’t over-exert yourself when you are cleansing, so I stuck with a short workout and yoga. They both seemed to be just right.
I am thinking about doing this cleanse every Monday since it is so budget friendly, and it would work well with my schedule. We’ll see how that goes though. If you try this cleanse, I would love to hear your thoughts!
