Happy July & Monthly Recap Link-up

june monthly recap

A few months ago when I started doing monthly recaps, I looked around for a link-up and didn’t find one. Then when Jacquelyn mentioned looking for one as well, I suggested that we start our own. She emailed me and the wheels were turning. Personally, I love recapping each month, it gives me time to talk about everything that happened, reflect on memories and keep track of all of the big events that occurred. So here we are with the very first monthly recap link-up! We would love to have you join us with your recaps, goal posts, post roundups, monthly favorites- anything! We simply ask that you follow both of us and hop around to some of the other blogs that link-up as well. This link-up will take place on the first Tuesday of every month. We would love to have you join us!

This month was another busy one, but wish an amazing and relaxing trip in the middle. It was an amazing trip and I am so excited to continue recapping.

  • My cousin announced that she is having a baby! A few months ago I planned her engagement with her fiancΓ©, and then this month she announced that they are having a baby! We are so excited for them and can’t wait to add another little one to our family.

  • We went to an Orioles game with the Baltimore Blogger Babes + Boys, and it was the best game I have ever been to. You can see why in this post.
  • We celebrated one entire year of being married!! I still can’t believe we have been married for over a year now. It was funny to see the Facebook posts from friends and family wishing us a happy anniversary, and then to see the comments where others were like “OMG it has already been a year?! NO WAY!” yep. it has. and nope. it doesn’t feel like it.

  • We celebrated my sister graduating High School with a fun party on the water. It was so nice to see how many people love Emily almost as much as I do. We also made her a custom Snapchat filter.

  • I went to see Ellie Goulding FINALLY! Laura and I had such a fun night singing our hearts out and dancing for over an hour. Ellie was amazing and I can’t wait to see her again!
  • We went to Mexico with my grandparents in celebration of our anniversary and also for a much needed real vacation. It’s always amazing to experience all of the new places that we do, but I really consider those trips because they are jam packed with things to do, moving hotels, airports, etc. This time is was a full on vacation.
  • We celebrated Lauren and her fiancΓ© at their engagement brunch! One of the other bridesmaids hosted the celebration and it was really nice for everyone to get to know one another.

I didn’t have much blog reading time this month, so I will leave you with these two posts that I found were important.

  • When Anne posted “Thoughts on the “Why I Won’t Read Your Posts” Post” I knew this was another blogger after my own heart. It makes me so sad to see posts like the ones she is referencing, because it shows no faith in the community of blogging. Lets guide each other, encourage others and if we see something we don’t like- simply unfollow or move on for the day. I have a similar post from last year, so I was very happy to see this topic coming up again.
  • I have followed Emily for some time now, and was heartbroken to hear when Martin got sick. To see this post from his funeral was so emotional and I am sure it took so much for her to share it. I have been praying for this sweet mama and her babies, in the end I know that God will see them through.

The Lowcountry Mama

  • Jacquelyn @ Lowcountry Mama

Such a fun month!! I know exactly what you mean by “real” vacation. Like even though traveling to a new city is technically a vacation, those trips are usually so jam packed.. I consider mostly tropical resort vacations and cruises to be real for me haha. AND I’m in need of one asap!

    • Macy Volpe

Exactly!! That is how I feel as well. I love being able to visit new places so often, but that also leaves no time to relax and immerse yourself in the city. Tropical vacations are definitely my kind of vacation πŸ˜‰

  • Megan

Seriously, June was SUCH a busy month! I can’t believe you did all of that in one month! I’m so happy that your anniversary trip was a blast! Can we do another Orioles game this month? The 8 of us must be some kinda good luck or something! πŸ˜‰ Loved your 1SE recap- also I love how often you guys go to the movies. I feel like I’ve seen a movie theater snippet in about three or four recaps! Chris wishes we went that often!

    • Macy Volpe

Every month I can’t believe how much we manage to fit into 30 days. YES to an O’s game, I hope it’s half as fun as the last one. We both have Movie Pass so for $30 a month we can go to the movies as often as we want, we try to at least go 3 times a month to make the money worth it, but some months we go 5-7 times.

  • Lauren

Yayyy! I made it into your monthly recap! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Seriously, how much fun has wedding stuff been so far? I’m so glad that you’re here by my side πŸ™‚ Also, I’m so bummed that I didn’t know that Emmykins had a snapchat filter for her party! I totally would have used it!

  • Ashley @ Wandering Weekenders

You had such a packed month in June filled with lots of celebrating! Even though I feel like I don’t use Facebook that much, I love being able to go back and see the memories from years before! It still amazes me when something pops up from years before!

  • Emelia @ Dream Big & Buy the S

WHAT a fun filled month, girl you know how to LIVE…I love it! Did you make the Snapchat filter for the party? If so I do have a few questions πŸ˜‰ You know me and my questions. I am still loving that your grandparents went to Mexico with you…SO awesome! I also loved Anne’s post…I read such a variety of posts from bloggers and that’s part of what makes this community so awesome. Support one another! Hope you have a great week πŸ™‚

    • Macy Volpe

You saying that means SO much. We always say that we want to make sure we are living our life in order to make memories and experiences, so hearing that makes me really happy. Thank you!! Dave designed the filter and I submitted it and everything, email me about anything you want to know- if I don’t know the answer, I will ask Dave. Absolutely yes to supporting each other. Who would we be talking to if there wasn’t a blogging community?! I hope you have a great week as well!

  • Meg Taylor

This monthly link-up is a GREAT idea and I LOVE both you and Jacquelyn!! You had such a great month. I want to surprise my SIL with a snapchat filter for her wedding – was it hard to make?? Also, I still LOVE that photo of you Baltimore Bloggers from the game!

  • Bourbon & Lipstick

What a fun month and I love the idea of this link-up! Are you guys still traveling to Louisville this weekend? I had an email of suggestions ready to go for you… then I deleted all of my emails. Ha!

    • Macy Volpe

Thank you!! We are actually going to be there for literally 24 hours in 2 weeks now instead of this weekend. I had 2 things come up and had to change the date, and then we had no full free weekends available. So I would love a few suggestions on what to squeeze into 8am Saturday – 9am Sunday πŸ˜‰
