Last week I kicked off the reception posts, and now I’m here to really get into the party. It all started with Tornado warnings, Dave and I had no idea what was happening since we didn’t have our phones and everyone made sure we didn’t find out until the next day. While we could see the clouds rolling in, we thought it would be a typical summer thunder storm…we were wrong.
Those clouds opened up and it started raining, but let me tell you, we have the BEST friends who just kept dancing! Thanks to some alcohol, we were even dancing with umbrellas…in CRAZY lightning….we then were told to get our butts under the tent. By the time we made our way into the tent, tables were moved and a dance floor was created in the middle. Mind you, it was a grass dance floor, but like I said, our friends are awesome. The DJ was perfectly situated right next to one of the bars, the outdoor bars were already moved inside, the Photo Booth was in one of the tent corners, and the tent company had come out at some point and added more walls to the tent.
At times, the lightning would light up the entire property and the thunder was louder than the music, but we ket dancing. Looking back, this was probably a terrible idea with the metal and water and everything else, but the party was already started and there was no stopping us now.
After a little while, it started to get pretty muddy under the tent, but it seems like that upped the fun factor. Honestly, me and my mom always say how much fun it would be for our entire family to just go play in the mud one day…I just didn’t think it would be my wedding day 😉
By this point some of us were looking a hot mess, but we made it work! Some of our friends told us that it wouldn’t have been our wedding if something crazy didn’t happen, and this was quite crazy. I absolutely loved our reception, from having some dances on the outside dance floor, to kicking up mud to Shut Up And Dance, and just being with some of our most favorite people.
The next day when we both finally got our phones back we realized that we had over 7 Tornado warnings and watch notices. Thank God everything was all good!
I can’t wait to share more next week!
Do you see that thick glowing bracelet? One of my friends brought our bracelets from the Taylor Swift concert (we were there literally one week before our wedding) and as soon as Taylor Swift came on she broke out the bracelets…I didn’t take mine off all night 😉
