From Here To There: St. Michaels, Maryland

Saint Michaels, Maryland

A little over an hour and half from Baltimore is the cutest waterfront town, St. Michaels. This area is most known for the movie Wedding Crashers, which was filmed at the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels. But if you have followed me for any length of time, you likely know my love for all things nautical and this town speaks right to my heart. While I have lived in Baltimore my entire life, I have only been to St. Michaels 3 or 4 times. My most recent visit was because of a wedding right around the corner at the Kirkland Manor (I can’t say enough about this gorgeous venue), and I am hoping to go back a few times next summer.

St. Michaels has its fair share of of B&B’s, small streets, boutiques and an ice cream shop. There are several waterfront restaurants, plenty of boat slips, and great people watching if you are on the look out for the latest vineyard vines fashions. Basically, this town revolves around all things nautical, victorian and beautiful.

The town of St. Michaels was originally founded in the 1600’s when it was used as a trading post for tobacco farmers. But it’s main part of history is from the war of 1812 when the town was used to fool the British. After all of these years, it has become quite the tourist destination.

In the area you will find a few museums, golf resort, lighthouse and many historic buildings. If you are ever in the DMV (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) area, I highly recommend St. Michaels for a quiet and quaint getaway. One of my favorite advantages is that you can arrive by car or boat! I already can’t wait to go back!
