Volpes Tie The Knot: The Guys Get Ready

Last week I shared photos from the gals getting ready, now it’s time for the guys! While we were getting ready at the venue, all of the guys were at my grandparents house (5 minutes from the venue) getting ready there. I am so happy we decided to have them all go there because it was a beautiful setting for photos. Their house is right on the water, and the pier is a great setting for group shots. That spot even holds a special place in our story because it is where we got engaged!

The mirror in the above photo is such a staple at my grandparents house as well. It has been on the wall forever. A few years ago they were painting their living room and it wasn’t up for about 2 months, it felt so empty without it there! I’m so happy to have a photo of Dave looking into it. There is also one of me looking into the mirror while I am getting into my dress!

After the rehearsal dinner, all of the guys went to our house for the rest of the night, where they ironed the shirts and made sure everyones fit. I know this because around 2am I got a photo of Dave chugging a bottle of tequila and ironing a shirt…at least they didn’t burn down our house.  Funny story- even though every guy tried on his shirt the night before, one of theirs didn’t fit at all in the neck. Thankfully, the bow tie covered it, but how does someones neck grow half an inch overnight?!

According to Dave, it was great to have as many guys as he did because everyone needed help with their bow tie. Thankfully there is this thing called YouTube and they were able to look up how exactly to tie them. All of the Groomsmen had purple bowties and custom purple vans, which somehow were almost the exact same color! Dave had a mint bowtie with matching purple vans, but the only difference in his is the mint stripe going around the shoes. Vans even had mint and purple socks which Dave gave to all of the guys…photos of them coming soon 😉

Bow ties are so tricky! I feel like I’m going to get a late night photo of the “ironing and chugging tequila” too! You did so great at your theme and color scheme!

They are! That is one thing I am glad girls didn’t have to do 😉 Thank you so much!

How sweet that they got ready at your grandparents’ house! Can’t wait to see more =)

It meant so much to know there were all there. My mom and aunt both got ready for their weddings at their house as well, so if I couldn’t be there, I am glad they were.

These pictures are amazing! I love the mint and purple, and I’m pretty surprised Vans had so much purple and mint to offer. Can’t wait to see more.

Thank you! We had to order the vans custom, but they had SO many options. I’m really glad all of the guys were okay with getting them.

Great colors! Sometimes I wish we could see the time stamps on the guys and girls getting ready since they’re such drastically different amounts of time, haha! Thanks again for hosting the linkup!

Thank you!! I would love to see the timestamps as well because I know they were asking when the shuttle was arriving, like 2 hours before it was coming haha

Oh my gosh – the Vans!! They look SO GOOD. I can’t wait to see more photos of the gifts. I’m super impressed all the guys could do the bow ties together!

I was so happy with how well they matched everything! I had a feeling they were all going to show up to the venue without them tied, I am pretty proud :)

I seriously love how great the colors look together. I can’t wait to see more pictures!

Thank you!! I am so glad I didn’t change the colors when I first wanted to, I love how it turned out.

  • Megan

Love love love how the colors went together so nicely and I love that they wore bowties! They’re the best!

Thank you!! It took a bit of convincing with Dave to get him to settle with mint green, but in the end we both loved it.
