Where To Eat In Seattle: The Pink Door

The Pink Door Seattle
One of my favorite things about traveling is experiencing new restaurants, so it’s one of the first things I look up before we go somewhere. When we were planning our trip to Seattle, I came up with a list of about 15 places and then started researching each individual place. Let me just tell you, Seattle is huge. For some reason I wasn’t expecting this until I started researching places to eat. Some of the restaurants I found were pretty close, and others were difficult for us to get to without having our own car. But we made it work.

One of the restaurants I was most excited to try was The Pink Door. I read that they were a kind of exclusive place, that doesn’t even have a sign to show you were it is. You could see this as you were trying to find it among Pike Place. There is literally a door and some windows and a tiny sign that has their hours. The Pink Door is a Italian-American restaurant, mainly known for their entertainment. Depending on when you go, they have acrobats, burlesque shows, and other circus like acts going on while you are eating. You can find the schedule here. If you are going for dinner or a specific show, I recommend making reservations and checking to see if there is an additional cover charge.

We decided to try lunch instead of dinner because it is a bit pricey, but also because I loved grilled cheese and they had a multi-cheese panini with tomato bisque on their lunch menu. I was hoping the appeal would still be there even though there wasn’t a show happening, and it absolutely was. Walking in the door, you immediately go down steps to a lower seating area. As soon as we opened the door we could see swings and silks hanging from the ceiling, and cute bistro tables throughout.

We were quickly seated and served with bread and oil (one of mine and Dave’s favorites) while we looked over the menu. The drink menu looked amazing, but we decided to stick with water since we planned on doing a lot of walking later that day. I had already known what I was going to order for my meal, but Dave ended up going with the chefs special for the day. He is much more likely to try fish that he hadn’t heard of before, than I am.

Our food was incredible! Seriously, the best grilled cheese I have ever had, and I couldn’t even finish it. Dave loved his as well and said the side was delicious. We were so happy with our meal and I probably would have went back the next day if we weren’t leaving already. Overall we had a great experience at The Pink Door, and I hope we can go back one day.

ps. After I realized how huge Seattle was, I looked up the sizes of other cities. Did you know that New York City is 304 square miles and LA is over 500?! I had no idea the city limits actually reached that far. But there are other cities even larger.
