Must Do in Munich: 48-Hour Tour With City Sightseeing

The quickest way to get your bearings in a city is to get out and explore as much as possible, in a short amount of time. I love a good hop-on/hop-off bus option when we’re in a new city to do just that! I prefer to do a 2-day tour option when possible and use it for a half day each day. It’s a great way to see the city, get an understanding of where landmarks are, as well as see a lot of sights in a short amount of time!

Hi there! Just a heads up- if you click on a link within this post I may receive a small commission. I appreciate your support of To Travel & Beyond and hope to bring you great recommendations for many years to come!

There are three route options for Munich City Sightseeing.

  • City Tour (red line): 1-hour loop with 7 stops to tour the Munich city center. Popular stops near Residenz, Marienplatz, the Opera, and the Deutsches Museum.

  • Nymphenburg/Olympiapark Tour (purple line): major highlights are in the route name. We stopped at both the Nymphenburg palace and Olympiapark- totally worth it to see the sights from the top deck of the bus while traveling between destinations.
  • Schwabing Tour (blue line): a few stops in the Englischer Garten and Pinalotheken.

If you have a few days to tour Munich, I highly recommend starting with the City Sightseeing tour to get your bearings!

If you are looking for a longer itinerary to cover 4 days in Munich, check out this post with itinerary options.

Have you done a hop-on/hop-off bus tour before?
