From Here To There: Cancun, Mexico
After our 4 days in Isla Mujeres, we were off to Cancun to finish our vacation. Having the ferry that goes back and forth between the island and the main land was awesome, fast and inexpensive. I highly recommend at least going to the island for the day if you visit Cancun. The ride was about 25 minutes, and you get to see the beautiful water the entire time. Sit up top if you can!
Once we arrived in Cancun, we went straight to our hotel. Thankfully we were able to check-in early and do a quick change to get to the beach. This resort has 2 large pools, and a hot tub in a separate area. Both of the pools were already full by this time (around 2pm) so we opted to grab some drinks and head to the beach. The beach was pretty big, and not very full so we sat right next to the water and relaxed for a while. It was so nice to have a real vacation where you could lay out and do nothing besides focus on a tan.
We decided to get a nicer dinner since we didn’t fully celebrate our anniversary in Isla Mujeres (that is another post for another time), and had a hard time deciding between the SEVEN restaurants. We opted for Japanese and it was incredible. I loved wandering the resort at night when most people were either in the lounges or having dinner. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I could have fallen asleep on the beach just listening to the waves.
The next day was more of the same, except we made it a point to get up early and get a spot next to the pool. I was amazed by the number of chairs claimed with towels at 6:30am. This may have been one of the only downfalls of this resort, it was packed! We still managed to get a spot next to the pool but if we would have been there later than 8am, it wouldn’t have happened. Thankfully, even though the bar was supposed to open at 10, mimosas and champagne were available whenever you wanted them! Friday was spent in a similar way, relaxing and taking in our last day.
On Thursday we were adventurous and went to XPLOR. We had SO much fun! I will have an entire post about this soon, but I was able to knock something off of my 101 in 1001 list…ZIP-LINING! There were 2 options for a course and we did the longer one with a water ending. It was a blast. I can’t wait to share more about this awesome adventure filled amusement park.
We were both sad to see this vacation end, but happy to meet up with my grandparents again. We talked about them several times a day and really wished that they would have come with us to the second resort. I can’t wait to take another vacation with them!
