It’s a great hub for excursions to explore Jamaican culture and natural beauty. Located near the international airport, you will have a shorter drive to resorts in this area. 
3. Ocho Rios – A more adventurous part of Jamaica, Ocho Rios is famous for its waterfalls and lush rainforests. It’s the best place for couples who want a mix of relaxation and outdoor exploration. Another area around an hour and a half from the airport. 
4. Port Antonio – As tropical hidden gem, Port Antonio is quieter than the other areas and has stunning views of the Blue Mountains. This area is ideal for couples looking for a secluded getaway, tucked in the forest but near beautiful beaches and water. This area is almost four hours from Montego Bay airport.

While I am only including in-depth details for two of the options if you would like to stay in a specific area of Jamaica and want to look into a Sandals resort, keep in mind that there are additional options.

Known for its personalized service, Sandals Royal Plantation offers secluded beaches, exceptional dining, and a serene ambiance. We have stayed at multiple Excellence resorts and they are both some of the best adults-only resorts!

Located on a private peninsula near Montego Bay, it combines pristine beach access with a luxury, eco-conscious design. The resort offers multiple gourmet restaurants, an extensive spa, and a rooftop bar with amazing sunset views. The 24-hour room service is ideal! We found the vibrant nightlife options to be a lot of fun, and it really is such a beautiful resort location.

There are two Couples resorts in Jamaica, Couples Tower Isle and Couples Swept Away in Negril.

When to Visit Jamaica

The best time to visit Jamaica is from November to mid-December when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are lighter. January through March is also a good period, though this is the high season, so resorts can be busier and pricier.

Avoid the hurricane season, from June to November, as storms can affect the Caribbean region. However, if you’re on a budget, May or early June can be a more affordable time with good weather. 

We have visited during September and November and experienced fantastic weather each time, but always be sure to have travel insurance in case a storm rolls through.
