Where To Stay: Magnolia Hotel St. Louis
It has been a while since our trip to St. Louis, but I couldn’t end the recaps without sharing the details on my new favorite place to sleep, Magnolia Hotel St. Louis. When I search for hotels, I look for several things, a good location and free happy hour is top on the list in most cities, and we lucked out with both, plus much more in St. Louis.
To start off the convenience of this amazing hotel, we got off the metro and were less than a block away. We arrived pretty early and I didn’t think we would be able to check-in, which is the case most of the time. I asked if we could leave our bags behind the desk and the attendant asked for my name and told me that we could check into our room right away if we wanted- um YES! It was before 10am, how was this possible? So got our keys and headed to the room…only to stop in the lobby when my jaw dropped. This lobby was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The huge chandeliers, the beautiful chairs, the details of the library and the fireplace that lined the lobby, it was all breathtaking. Can I move in?
We eventually made it up to our room and I felt like we needed to stay in the room for the rest of the day just to take advantage of the views and the size. We had a living room, separate bathroom, big bedroom, a hallway of our own, a desk and a kitchenette. I wish we could have stayed longer than one night! There were windows taking up two of the walls, and we had a partial view of the Gateway Arch and some of the city all around us. But, going back to the whole good location thing, we needed to get out and take advantage of that!
We walked out of the lobby and were a half mile away from the Gateway arch. There were arches along the sidewalk that led us all the way there, it was perfect! Later that day when we wanted to take the metro to lunch and the Forest park, we were there in just a few minutes. Wherever we needed to be, we never felt far since the hotel was in the middle of everything.
The Magnolia Hotel St. Louis had a few different benefits when it came to free drinks and food, there was a free happy hour at the bar, free cookies and milk in the lobby in the evening, and free breakfast. This saved us money for a few things and provided the perfect snack. Cookies and milk mean a lot to us, and we even had a cookies and milk bar at our wedding, so this might have been a decision maker when it came to booking this hotel.
If you asked Dave was the highlight of this hotel was, he would absolutely say the shuttle. This was not your everyday shuttle, it was a Tesla and it drove us to the Anhauser Busch Brewery. Does it get better than that? This was something that I didn’t know about until we arrived. When we checked in the clerk told us that the Tesla was availible whenever we needed it, I wasn’t sure what he meant, we get a Tesla with check-in?! I thought this was a very cool additional aspect of the amazing hotel.
Have you ever been to St. Louis?
