Things To Do With Kids in San Antonio | Free & Guided

I. Love. Texas. I love Texas so much. If we needed to leave Florida and move elsewhere, it would likely be Texas. So, of course, when I had another chance to visit that lovely state and new city of San Antonio, I jumped on it. I love being in such a fantastic environment with great food, a unique atmosphere, cool people, and a laid-back kind of lifestyle. It’s a great stop on a road trip throughout Texas or even for a trip on its own, especially because of all the free things to do in San Antonio with kids.

Hi there! Just a heads up- if you click on a link within this post I may receive a small commission. I appreciate your support of To Travel & Beyond and hope to bring you great recommendations for many years to come!

San Antonio

I have visited San Antonio a few times now, but before my first visit, I thought I could see the city quickly and only left myself an hour to explore the city. Once I arrived I was in awe, and super bummed I had to leave so quickly, so this conference couldn’t have been in a more perfect location. I stayed in the Marriott River Walk, and my room had a balcony overlooking the River Walk, it was perfect! There are many other great hotel options as well that will be perfect for a family trip!

History of San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas, is a city rich in history, culture, and vibrant community spirit. Founded in 1718, it played a pivotal role in the early Spanish colonization of North America. The city is perhaps best known for the Alamo, a historic mission that became a symbol of Texan independence. Over the centuries, San Antonio has evolved into a melting pot of cultures, reflected in its festivals, cuisine, and architecture. If you’re looking for a fun weekend getaway that won’t break the bank, here’s how to enjoy San Antonio for $20 or less per person—or even free!

San Antonio

Depending on the time of year, I would suggest looking into the seasonal festivals and cultural events in the city and nearby areas. There is always something exciting happening and it’s the perfect opportunity to catch something unique. If you are visiting in the summer, look into local splash pads. It can get quite hot in Texas, so this is a great way to have fun with the whole family while cooling off.
