The arboretum is home to an impressive variety of native plants and trees, providing visitors with a wonderful opportunity to explore and appreciate the natural beauty of the area.

Play some games at Beach Bowl. This place is a vibe! The outside is beautiful, and the indoor activities are so much fun. A great option for family-friendly activities like bowling or an arcade, but also a very fun night for a group of mom friends if you are local!

Take a walk along the south bank of the river to Friendship Park. The large water fountain was recently reopened and is beautiful to see! Free activities in this area are walking along the water, crossing over the St Johns River via a bridge, or having a picnic by the fountain.

Tree Hill Nature Preserve is a beautiful sanctuary nestled in the heart of the city. It offers a peaceful retreat for visitors with its lush trails, diverse wildlife, and serene atmosphere. The preserve provides a perfect opportunity to connect with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of urban life.

Sunshine Park which has a large playground, skateboard park, multiple sports areas like soccer fields and baseball and a splash pad. There are often birthday parties being hosted and larger groups at the park on the weekends so this is a great option for weekdays! 

Talbot Islands provides a variety of beaches and coastal woodlands. You can take a four-mile hike through Little Talbot Island State park, or visit the hidden gem Black Rock Beach at Big Talbot Island. The park offers bike rentals and camping sites, though it’s a great day trip as well! 

Fort George Island is a historic island known for its rich history and natural beauty. The island is home to the Kingsley Plantation, which is a well-preserved cotton plantation dating back to the 19th century. Indoor Playgrounds & Cafes in Jacksonville

The Enchanted Cottage in Jacksonville. Their website mentions that their space is designed to be “a place where new parents go to find their community,” and I couldn’t resonate with that more! There is something special about doing life with people in the same stage as you. This indoor play village is well-designed to encourage children to grow and explore on their own and with guided assistance in some cases.

Trinity’s Indoor Playground is located inside Tinity’s church at their Hammond Plaza. It’s currently the largest indoor playground in the area and offers free wifi, a cafe, space to meet with friends and more. The Plaza serves Bold Bean coffee and offers snacks.

Play Factory and Cafe in Jacksonville offers unlimited all-day play for children to explore the Montessori-focused play area. Encouraging creativity and community, this is a fun space for families to visit together.

The Little Social is located in St Johns County. It is a beautifully designed play cafe where children can flourish with Montessori elements, pretend play features, and a thoughtfully designed setup. A cafe is available for parents to enjoy their time while children play.

Things To Do Near Jacksonville

St Augustine is a 30-45 minute drive, depending on where you are in Jacksonville, and it has enough activities to last a few days on its own! If you are interested in seeing alligators, climbing a lighthouse, seeing historic buildings, and more, I highly recommend spending time in the St Augustine area. This post include free things to do and paid-for experiences while in town.

Conners A-Maize-Ing Acres Farm is a family-owned farm located in Hilliard, Florida. With a wide range of attractions, including a corn maze, pumpkin patch, and petting zoo, it’s a popular destination for families and visitors of all ages. The farm also offers various seasonal events and educational farm tours, making it a great place to experience agriculture and outdoor fun. 

Amelia Island Nature Center is a beautiful and serene place where visitors can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Amelia Island in Florida. The center offers educational opportunities about the island’s diverse wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation efforts. Visitors can explore nature trails, observe native wildlife, and learn from knowledgeable staff about the importance of preserving this unique environment. Whether it’s wandering, hiking, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings, Amelia Island Nature Center provides a wonderful experience for everyone. 

Sykes Family Farms is a local favorite for seasonal events! In October, you can go through The Maze, hang out with the farm animals, take a hayride, bounce on the bubble mats, blow ginormous bubbles, and more. They also have a lovely event in December- Christmas on the Farm. 

Tips for Visiting Jacksonville

  • Look into Kids Free November! Depending on the timing of the activities you are planning, during the month of November you can experience discounted or free entry to many of the local museums and experiences. 
  • It will be helpful to have a vehicle if you are traveling into the area. There are plenty of activities for everyone, but it is a little spread out and we don’t have a great public transportation system.

No matter the age of your children, Jacksonville has something for everyone. You will also find fun indoor activities like escape rooms, iFLY, IKEA, and more within the city of Jacksonville. With its diverse range of attractions, the city promises an exciting and enriching experience for families.
