What To Wear In Disney | Cute Outfit Ideas for Moms
Walt Disney World is a great location for making memories as a family, but it takes a lot of planning, from the big details like where you will stay and when you will visit to what you will wear and how you will get to the parks. It all takes effort and thinking ahead, especially if you are focused on doing all of these things for multiple people. As a mom who visits Disney parks many times throughout the year, lives in Florida (so I get the weather changes!), and wants to have a fun Disney outfit while also being comfortable, this list is geared to be an excellent resource for your Disney trip!
You are planning a vacation to the happiest place on earth, and it’s fun to dress for the occasion. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first trip or your fiftieth time visiting the theme parks, plan your fun outfits, twirl in front of the castle and have so much fun! It’s your chance to pack all things Disney, take cute photos, and enjoy the experience!
Hi there! Just a heads up- if you click on a link within this post I may receive a small commission. I appreciate your support of To Travel & Beyond and hope to bring you great recommendations for many years to come!
Before You Start Packing
There are a few things to think about when planning your outfits.
- Think about the seasons. Just because you are in the South doesn’t mean you won’t need a jacket in the winter months. It’s essential to understand the season and the typical weather in Orlando around that time. It’s also important to realize that Florida weather can change in hours. We had had January trips when it was in the ’80s and others in the 40s; pack for everything! The summer months can be very warm, but you may also need a light jacket at times.
- What will you need to carry? Do you like to have easy access to specific things like your phone, chapstick, hair ties, etc.? If yes, think through your accessories in advance. Backpacks or belt bags will be helpful; read below for my favorites!
- Be practical. While I am obsessed with an adorable Disney-themed outfit, not all of them are practical if you plan to be in the parks for a full day from rope drop until close. There are places and times for those outfits; just keep in mind that comfort is important. You will be doing a ton of walking, so think about the long day as you plan and pack!
- Don’t forget the basics. Biker shorts for under dresses, tank tops to match cute shorts, etc. After reading through the list below, think through all the outfits you may need, then consider your basics.
- Depending on your goals, I sometimes bring a change of clothes to the park. For example, if you want to wear a park-specific shirt but you are park hopping, I will wear a skirt and tank top for our first park and bring a tank top for the second in my backpack.
- Family matching. Do you plan to buy family shirts for any of your park days? If so, I will include a few ideas with options for the whole family below. If you hope to match at some point throughout your Disney vacation but maybe not on a park day, consider your travel day outfits!
- Where else will you visit? Do you plan to spend a day at the pool and an evening at Disney Springs? That would be another opportunity to wear a cute outfit with a nod towards Disney, though people don’t usually see Disney Bound as much in the springs.
I usually pair a tank top or t-shirt with athletic tennis skirts, though I have found several great dresses, denim shorts, rompers, and shorts, which are all perfect for Disney outfits. The options are endless, “Disney bounding” like your favorite character, wearing a shirt that represents your favorite ride, or looking for an outfit in the specific colors of a great restaurant.
I gathered a full list of my Amazon favorites for shirts, pants and accessories list in this post. You will also see links below each photo for specific outfits.

What to wear in EPCOT
Our favorite park! There are a few ways to dress for EPCOT. You can focus on the rides, the World Showcase, the classic areas of the park or even the changing details like the festivals.
- Rides: Cosmic Rewind, Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, Test Track (under refurbishment), Tres Caballeros, Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Soarin’, Living with the Land, Figment

Hollywood Studios Vibe Outfits
This park has the best themes. Most people go all in on Star Wars or Toy Story Land when they visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but there are also areas for Indiana Jones, Frozen, Disney Junior, and Pixar characters like the Incredibles. The very first Mickey and Minnie mouse themed ride is located in Hollywood Studios as well- Runaway Railway!

What to Wear to Animal Kingdom
The name of the park says it all: Animal print is usually the winner in this park, although some people go for a safari vibe since this park is home to the Kilimanjaro Safari. There are a few attractions that draw in some matching outfits, though. Finding Nemo and the Lion King are the top choices, but Avatar has a large space in the park, and you will also find Kevin from UP! in the park.
If you plan to ride Kali River Rapids, bring a backup outfit!

Unique and Special Occasion Outfits
I always love to see special dresses or outfits around the park; some of them can be quite comfortable as well!
Holidays In The Parks
This wouldn’t be a list of helpful Disney fashion posts without mentioning the holidays in Walt Disney World and how you can dress to match the decorations.
Halloween: season starts in August (yes, Disney does celebrate fall in the very warm weather) and ends on Halloween.
Christmas: season starts the day after Halloween and usually lasts until the weekend after Christmas.
Dapper Days are so much fun! People go all out in vintage attire.

Accessories for Disney
- Rain gear – it’s likely to rain in Florida, even if it’s just for a few minutes, it’s important to be prepared. I usually lean towards easy when it comes to rain protection so these ponchos are a great choice.
- Hats. Baseball cap, wide-brimmed sun hat, or floppy hats are great options.
- Minnie Ears! I love Minnie Ears to match my outfits each day, sometimes I will match the park and others I focus on matching my outfit.
- Mickey ears hat. I have this hat and absolutely love it! It’s lightweight, protects my scalp and face and I always get compliments on it!
- Fanny Pack. This is an absolute must for me! I have Disney fanny packs and plain fanny packs, and I have DIYed a few of these with these patches.
Shoes for the Disney Parks
You will likely walk at least 15,000 steps daily, so comfortable shoes are a must! They may not match every outfit, but you will be thankful for the most comfortable shoes. If you buy new shoes before your trip, make sure to break them in before leaving! I like to have a variety of options, all tested and approved to be Disney shoes!
Tennis Shoes – A good pair of tennis shoes is a must. I have a pair of waterproof on clouds that I highly recommend for the winter months when it can be cold and rainy.
Sandals – For your resort days, nice dinners, and travel days. I like to have a casual pair of sandals and a nicer pair as well.
Tevas – These shoes have come a long way! They are very comfortable sandals with cute designs. I have a few pair in different colors and they are worth the investment!

Where To Buy The Pieces for the Disney World Outfit Ideas
Some pieces are easy to find, while others require some searching. Most can be found on Amazon, and a few can be found at stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls. The Disney Store has great options for official Disney outfits, small businesses have beautiful options for special occasions, and H&M usually has Disney character attire for children and adults. You will often find pieces perfect for Disney but without characters at many boutiques.
Water Park Theme
All you need for the waterparks is a bathing suit and cover up. I don’t feel as pulled to dress on-theme at the waterparks but in case you want more info on how you could:
Blizzard Beach: A slight nod towards Frozen within this water park. The name fits as it is a ski lodge-themed park.
Typhoon Lagoon: A shipwreck-themed park in the middle of the Caribbean. Think tropical prints and bright colors.

Prepare For The Seasons
Winter: It can get chilly! I recommend bringing hats, gloves, a scarf, and a jacket. I usually wear fleece-lined leggings and a sweatshirt.
Spring: The weather will likely be chilly in the morning, warm in the afternoon and chilly again at night. Pack layers! A light jacket, spirit jersey or sweatshirt for the morning and evening will be perfect. Shorts or pants will be comfortable.
Summer: Plan for hot weather! Tank tops and shorts or light dresses will be ideal! Light, breathable fabric without multiple layers.
Fall: Similar to spring, the weather can go up and down so pack layers!

What Not To Wear in Disney (and what you aren’t allowed to wear in Disney)
Disney does have a few rules when it comes to what you can’t wear in the park and their dress code.
- Costumes over the age of 14. Only children are allowed to wear costumes in the park, which is why “Disney Bounding” is a great choice if you want to resemble your favorite character. This includes full costume attire and costume masks. There are certain things allowed in Galaxy’s Edge, though!
- Long dresses or skirts that touch the ground can be a safety hazard when getting in and out of ride vehicles. You will be asked to change or shorten the skirt.
- Shirts with long ties. You will be asked to change or shorten the ties. It’s a safety concern if something gets stuck in the ride.
- Tall heels are a safety concern because of the chance they could get stuck in tracks or on rides.
- Questionable clothing with profanity, nudity, etc. could be required to be removed before entering the park.

What To Wear When You Don’t Want to Buy Themed Clothes
It’s absolutely okay not to wear a themed shirt or Disney bounding outfit in Disney. I recommend a bright and comfortable look for Walt Disney World. You will see a lot of Lilly Pulitzer, breathable fabrics, athleisure, and cute dresses. Below are some of my overall favorite outfits.
