Our Second Year | The Volpes

Our second wedding anniversary was last week and I am still wondering where the time went. I was so invested in my wedding for 11 months and for it to go by in the blink of an eye was crazy, but now to realize all of it ended TWO years ago?! It may not seem like a lot of time, and in the scheme of things it really isn’t, but it is really crazy looking back on the last 2 years an realizing everything that has happened.

Last year I shared a letter to Dave and a post of notes of our first year. This year, I am just going to share those notes I have continued to make. As the months go on it is so easy to get lost in life, but there are some moments I want to remember for our lifetime.

July- I realized that you wait to brush your teeth while I’m in the shower because you know it makes the water cold. After all of these years I never knew you did that. I love you for thinking of even the little things.

August- We took a trip to Buffalo and every time we are around more of your family I learn to love you even more. You are so kind, sweet and loving to everyone and not a single person could say a bad thing about you. How did I get so lucky?

September- I love riding with you to and from work most days of the week. Even when we are just driving the same route everyday and listening to music, just being around you to start and end the workday is the best. We also finished re-watching Gilmore Girls this month and it was another great time to spend with you.

October- We spent way too much time watching Flight Radar and exploring where people were going and coming from. You deal with listening to the same song (Closer) 5 times in a row, just because it’s my jam. This month we explored Birmingham via hikes and unfortunately no bike rides because the rental stations were closed.

November- We felt like kids again in Disney World and talked about bringing our future family back one day. You were a little annoyed at my need to be at the parks when they opened, but hey, it benefitted us, right? We celebrated another birthday of yours and fell in love with movies that have reclining seats.

December- We embraced the Christmas season a bit late at home, but as always I came home to a decorated house after a wedding. You never complain about being in the cold and making our house more festive. We froze our butts off at the Army/Navy game. I celebrated Christmas away from Maryland for the first time and realized that anywhere you are is where the best holidays are as well.

January- This wasn’t our best month, but somehow we still manage to fall more in love with each other constantly. Pushing through and not past difficult situations helps in the end. We at least started the New Year in another country!

February- Thinking Out Loud came on as we were packing for Colorado. You came into my closet and danced with me. Trying to remember the steps to the song as it played along. I’m so thankful for you. I had another birthday and you made sure to make it a great day.

March- We kicked off the month with a family trip to Breckenridge and had so much fun. In general this was a bit of a hard month for me but this vacation with our family and your endless support are more than I could ever imagine. We booked our trip to Napa!

April- we have been doing really well with our recently created budget, and surprisingly financial disagreements don’t happen often. I’m so thankful to be on the same wave length as you when it comes to how we see our future going. We booked JAPAN, let the countdown begin!

May- You really want SharkBait to snuggle at night so you have been doing your best to trick her into coming into bed. The only thing that works without fail is opening a string cheese. You have helped me endlessly this month, I’m sure it’s tough being married to a Wedding Planner that is constantly working on new projects, but you help without complaint even before I ask.

June- There were a few nights I didn’t even have time to eat dinner, but you always made sure I was okay. The best was when I woke up because my stomach was growling and you made me pizza at midnight.

Thank you, Dave, for everything you do. You’re the best part of my life and I’m incredibly thankful to have you by my side through it all.
