A Delightful Evening In Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik, Croatia was our only all day stop on our cruise, we were there from 8am until 12am and this was the perfect place to be for that amount of time. After we had an amazing start to the day walking the walls, we came back to enjoy the city in the evening. Once we got back, it kind of had the feel of a boardwalk, but obviously more European. We were looking for wifi and stumbled upon a cute waterfront cafe in a marina. We had some drinks to connect with our family over FaceTime, then we were off again.

We walked around the souvenir shops, through the alleyways, and toured a few museums. There were so many families flowing into the alleys having dinner parties, with children running around with kittens and puppies. What a beautiful, carefree life it looked like from the outside looking in. After working up an appetite, we were ready for some dinner. We headed back to the main courtyard and found a few places. This courtyard had a fountain in the center and was surrounded by cute cafes and restaurants built into the walls.

I’m not sure what made us choose a pizzeria but I am so glad we did. They gave us a pre-dinner palette cleanser, which happened to be some sort of house shot, and it was delicious! We also had house wine and some cocktails. Then they brought out the most amazing margarita pizza I have ever had. It was delicious! The best thing about our dinner was it only cost 100 Kuna, which is equivalent to about $14. YES please! This was out last stop in Croatia and we had a good amount of currency left, which meant we needed to go into the candy shop and do some shopping to spend our Kuna.

Dave’s version of the candy store was the one that actually sold candy, and it was called “Pirates Booty”, my version was the ice cream shop that sold sangria and mojitos. We each got our choice of treat and walked some more among the alleyways. As the sun was setting, the city was starting to light up and come alive. We watched a couple get married in front of the church, a group of friends dancing through the courtyard and all of the tourists making their way through the beauty.

I’m not sure I will ever love a place as much as I loved Dubrovnik, Croatia, and it’s really hard to explain how beautiful it was. I really hope we are able to make it back someday. If Croatia isn’t on your travel list, you should think about adding it. The beauty is undeniable!
