A Morning On The Beaches of Argostoli, Greece

When I pictured Greece, I thought about blue roofs and beautiful beaches. While we didn’t go to Santorini to get the full blue roof, white house effect, we absolutely got the beautiful beaches. We actually had this in several countries besides Greece, Italy for example, but the beaches of Argostoli, Greece were something out of a dream. Literally, I thought I should have been pinching myself.
As I mentioned before, I attempted to follow a loose plan while we were honeymooning. I am known to be an over planner, so it was important to me (and VERY important to Dave) to leave things open for spontaneity. We wanted to experience things that were recommend by locals, other travelers, and then a few other travel blogs or google searches. One place that came highly recommend was Lassi beach in Argostoli. The photos looked amazing, and we heard it was a nice place to relax. Even though I am incredibly happy with our trip, other options we had thought about were  Melissani Lake & Caves or taking the ferry to another island. Looking back, I wouldn’t have changed anything.
We arrived around 7am in port, and quickly got off the ship to find a taxi. We found another couple looking for a taxi to go towards Lassi and shared the car with them, which made the ride about 2 euros a couple…perfect! Lassi beach was on the other side of the island, which made it about a 10 minute ride (we did end taking the bus back for 1 Euro). From first glance, all we could see was a rocky road downwards toward the water, no beach in sight. As soon as we were past the trees, it was like the heavens were shining down on this gorgeous sandy beach in front of us. There were tiki huts, beach loungers of all sizes, and daybeds all stretched out in front of us.

Next to the lounge areas was a water sports hut with water skiing, tubing, jet skiing, etc. We debated taking part in one of these, but decided to just relax instead. We picked a set of chairs right on the water, and a waiter came over to ask if we wanted drinks. Why yes, we did want some coronas at 8am on this beautiful sandy beach. We waited for our drinks in the most clear, beautiful water. We could see the fish below us swimming around the beautiful shells, and it was just perfect.
Once we were back to lounging in our seats, we ordered some spanakopita (my favorite!!) and enjoyed the view for a few hours. I couldn’t have asked for a better location to spend our afternoon. Lassi was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip and my favorite beach day ever.
I will be back next week with more about the area of Argostoli!
